2. Yea this is another post about Lupe def one of my favorite rappers so most of my hip hop conversations do involve mention of him…with that being said:
Hip hop blogs have been buzzing about the whole Lasers situation and fans petitioning for its release. I recently had a convo about the best emcees of the 2000s and I went as far as to say Lupe belonged in the top 5. The person I was debating with said hes top 10 but probably not top 5. His top included Kanye Fabolous Lil Wayne Ludacris and Juelz. I agree with that list but I think Lupe belongs somewhere in there at the expense of either Juelz or Fab. My rebuttal went something like this:
“The only reason Lupe isnt mentioned in that top list is because he stays out of the spotlight and that’s why people think hes irrelevant. All of the other rappers above are constantly present in the media. Kanye - Mtv, TMZ Amber Rose, Media Takeout, Lil Wayne - new songs and music videos every 2 hrs, putting Drake on his label, guest appearances on everyones songs, Fab - Mixtapes, R&B collabs etc. Ludacris - Fragrance and Liquor endorsements, Juelz - Hot 97 106&park Dipset reunion. As for Lupe, what is he doing besides touring? Climbing Mt. Kilamanjaro to raise awareness about clean water in Africa. Now what NI**ERS do you think are paying attention to that shit? But who decides who are the best emcees?? <— NI**ERS.”

Props to rappers like Lupe that consistently make good music as well as use their talent to help the advancement of the African American image. In music/entertainment but in general also. For every mindless booty shaking club anthem you need a Lupe Fiasco/NaS/Talib/Dead Prez. Its all about balance. Now if we could just find a way for them to get as much attention as “Bucket Naked” and “I Just Wanna Fuck Every Girl in the World.”

I’ll keep it short and sweet since I’m a man of few words. First off I thought this title was original till I found out that Murs and Slug made an entire hip hop album of the same title. Coincidence? nah I listened to a good amount of Murs mostly when I was in high school. I probably came across the album title and just never gave it a listen.
I digress. I was always into random black chicks from television like Gina from Martin, Hilary from the Fresh Prince, Wanda from Bernie Mac, that girl that played Laura’s Friend on Family Matters to name a few. The list could go on forever… I usually favor more brown skinned ladies but my favorite TV star by far was Lisa Bonet who played Denise Huxtable on the Cosby show (Claire was hot too but this isnt a cougar appreciation post). My fascination with her made me to realize my appreciation for artsy/non conventional/different types of females (i.e. Lauryn hill, Erykah Badu, etc.) Lisa Bonet seemed to bring her own eccentricity to her character. The person she was in reality seemed to cross over into Denise Huxtable.
If I recall correctly she became sort of problematic on the set of the show due to her coming of age/changing personality or off the wall-ness, which only makes her seem more interesting to me. No tv actress sparked more interest to me than Lisa Bonet…this is a tribute to Lisa Bonet but consider it a tribute to all the artsy chicks keeping things balanced for all the cookie cutter plastic barbie type chicks.
